OUR STORY
TEAOC's Founder, Mengru Zhou, started TEAOC shortly after leaving art school. Having lived in the US for 10 years now, she has observed people's profound appreciation for Asian art. However, the broader perception of Chinese art and culture remained confined to clichéd images of "pandas," "the Great Wall," and "dumplings" from the 1990s. She has realized that mere awareness is not enough; it is our generation’s responsibility to enact change.
Zhou also found that the conventional gallery system often overlooked a significant number of talented artists and potential collectors. Driven by the belief that artistic talent should not be confined by the constraints of traditional structures, Zhou understood the importance of taking action to effect change.
Determined to shed light on the vibrant and diverse contemporary art scene in China, Zhou recognized the need for a platform that transcends traditional gallery limitations.

OUR ARTISTS
TEAOC's team scouts up-and-coming artists who are making their mark in China, as well as mid-career artists whose practices have taken an innovative turn.
We want our collectors to enjoy watching an artist's practice evolve and respond to the culture over time, so we take care to represent artists who are devoted to their long-term practices.
Our artists have been featured in traditional institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Soho Yard Gallery in Hong Kong, Singapore Art, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Design Institute in Beijing, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai, and the National Art Museum of China, other museums and fairs.
In addition to established institutions, we encourage our artists to engage in artistic collaborations that challenge conventional notions of how art is experienced within our culture, positioning them at the forefront of cultural innovation. -
OUR VISION
We aspire to be the catalyst for the new generation of Chinese art, providing a thriving community for Chinese art creators and enthusiasts. We aim to foster the flourishing of the new generation of Chinese art and help it find its audience. By challenging outdated norms in art collecting — redefining who can buy, who can be an artist — we are ushering in an inclusive new era, opening doors to a wider, more diverse range of art collecting, collaboration, and Chinese artists and audiences.
