Jingda Liang’s painting practice centers on natural landscapes as sites of emotional projection, memory, and psychological experience. Through saturated color, abbreviated brushwork, and expansive spatial compositions, he transforms familiar landscapes into atmospheric spaces suspended between reality and imagination.

Influenced by his early training in printmaking, as well as Japanese woodblock prints, German Expressionism, and Surrealism, Liang develops a visual language marked by flattened structures, expressive mark-making, and a tension between figuration and abstraction.

Recurring images of subtropical vegetation, mountains, and diminutive human figures draw from his memories of his native landscape, while reflecting an ongoing exploration of distance, belonging, and return. In Liang’s work, nature becomes not simply a subject of representation, but a psychological and spiritual space through which individual experience is reconfigured.
