Wenjing Zhou

MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST

Based in Paris and Beijing, b. 1989

Wenjing Zhou is a multidisciplinary artist whose research-driven practice interrogates the interstices of identity, gender, corporeality, illness, and power. She holds dual MFA degrees from the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (France) and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (China).

Zhou’s work situates the personal within broader socio-political and historical frameworks, deploying microhistory as both method and material. She examinesthe entanglements of affect and material culture, biopolitics and alienation, as well as the friction between private subjectivities and collective imaginaries.
