Gao Yilei studied at Fujian Normal University, IFS Language Institute in Bonn, and the Rissa Studio at Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. His practice navigates the interplay between painting and poetry, extending the classical Chinese concept of “poetry and painting share the same origin” into contemporary visual discourse.

By appropriating commercial symbols and deploying high-saturation colors, repeated geometric forms, and silhouettes, Gao interrogates consumerist culture while articulating a pursuit of creative autonomy. His paintings transform literary sensibilities into visual thought, constructing layered, poetic spaces where form, metaphor, and semantic resonance coalesce.
