Tianlian Liu

INK PAINTER

Based in Beijing and New York, b. 1987

Liu Tianlian's paintings constantly generate new picture structures through her "Secession" fine brushwork techniques and traditional Chinese painting pigments, which are outside the traditional Chinese painting techniques. She never hesitates to use her keen eyes and sharp self-examination to give new meaning to old things, thus creating dreams, reality and bizarre works.

  • Liu has been deeply influenced by Western aesthetic concepts since he was a child, while at the same time exploring China's unique cultural artistic conception. She calls her free wandering between ancient and modern times, Chinese and Western cultures "horticultural grafting", and the natural and living combination it produces produces sweet fruits within the existing system. The energy accumulated in this process has gradually become a kind of culture, which continues to shine and promote human civilization forward.
