ARTIST: Yuangjing Sheng

This piece of artwork is an original creation by Sheng.

This poem is from the Tang Dynasty, written by Changzhu, titled "Ascending the Stork and Sparrow Tower."

迥临飞鸟上,
高出世尘间。
天势围平野,
河流入断山。

Overlooking flying birds, Above the worldly dust. The celestial force surrounds the flat fields, Rivers flow into the broken mountains. Standing high above like a bird in flight, Elevated beyond the worldly dust. The celestial forces encircle the flat plains, Rivers flow into the broken mountains.

The poet, standing on the Stork and Sparrow Tower, gazes into the distant sky, where flying birds seem to glide beneath the tower. He feels as if he is looking down from a great height, surpassing the worldly affairs. In terms of artistic expression, the poet utilizes visual contrast in describing the scenery, creating a sense of distant objects appearing smaller to highlight the grandeur of those nearby, adding a touch of charm. In terms of intellectual outlook, the poet possesses a kind of purity and elegance in his sentiments, with aspirations soaring to the clouds, as if floating towards transcendence, revealing a desire for detachment from worldly concerns.
